Vinca minor

Common Periwinkle

Common periwinkle

Creeping evergreen ground cover, forming a dense tangled mat of long stems and elliptical leaves, rooting at intervals.  Pale blue to purple flowers in spring.  An aggressive grower, can be invasive.

We have planted it at the base of this small Japanese maple, and it has grown out to a 2-3 foot radius around the trunk of the tree in two years.
