Hydrangea quercifolia 'Snow Queen'

Oak-leaf Hydrangea

Medium-sized, bushy decidous shrub, growing to about 6 feet high and 6 feet diameter.  White, cone-shaped flowers throughout the summer.  Dark green foliage turns brilliant red and purple in fall.

May be pruned minimally in spring, which should result in fewer, but much larger, flower clusters.

I found this plant to be very easy to grow (photo is 2nd season). However, the leafless twigs in winter seem to be a bit brittle, and have occasionally been broken.  It is located right next to a stone-step path, and may, unfortunately, eventually grow over the path.
