Grasslike in appearance and habit, but not a grass at all -- actually, it's a member of the lily family. A popular ground cover or edging plant. Purple flower spikes in late summer, giving way to deep purple berries in winter. You can cut old growth back to the ground before new growth begins in spring. Photo Aug. 2000 |
