Construction, Phase 2 -- January, 2000
About a year later, we designed a series of walls and terraces to complete
the lower half of the back yard. The walls are dry-stacked.
The central boulder is drilled out and leveled on an in-ground water tank
with a recirculating pump. A layer of river gravel will be added
to finish the fountain. Originally we had planned a lower wall below
the stone steps (photo at upper right). Since that would have placed
the fountain too high, we had the fountain rebuilt and a second-tier wall
added above the fountain (photo lower right).
