Betula pendula 'Youngii'

Young's Weeping Birch

A small weeping tree that eventually becomes a dome-shaped or mushroom-headed tree as wide as it is tall.

Here, we have lashed together two bamboo poles end-to-end and tied in the tree to encourage a higher growth habit, since the tree has a strong tendency to weep in one direction. Lower branches reach easily to the ground.  Photo May 2000. Second growing season.
